Embracing the Scandal of Infertility
Hey there friends!
Checking in today with a very RANDOM but humorous (I hope) Lizism.
Today I spent far too long binge watching Scandal. Have you seen that show?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s a political show that shows the “white dove” moments of a superhero, Olivia Pope, as she helps clean up messes all around D.C.
In season two, the presidents wife announces she is pregnant with their third child. However, she was not even pregnant yet! It was an effort to cover up an affair the president had and secure the nations faith in their marriage.
By the end of the third episode, she was pregnant.
I got to thinking about this and how quickly Hollywood can make a pregnancy happen. Wow, if only this was real life, right?!
Nearing 4 years trying to conceive, sadly I know firsthand this isn’t the case.
But, it did get me thinking about the power of visualization. Sure, we know VERY well that there are far more factors involved in getting pregnant than simply visualizing a baby bump, but, that doesn’t mean there’s not a Higher power involved somehow too.
That’s when I became infatuated during my Sunday afternoon rollerblade with the concept of “Embracing the Scandal of Infertility”.
What if for just one moment, every day, we devoted just a minute to envisioning our life with that baby bump. I know very well it’s not easy, especially when reality hits and we realize it’s not there, yet.
If Scandal can get the First Lady pregnant in two episodes, surely a bit of hope, baby dust and Higher Powers can push my wish forward too, right?
Alright, it’s quite possible I’m crazy and a bit high off my marathon of Scandal, but, at this point, I’ll try anything :)!
Here’s to another week of focusing on BFP (big fat positives, in life!) and the bigger picture of this journey!
